About £ 1,000 of damage was caused to a tractor in Maple Cross as thieves attempted to steal equipment from it.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said thieves targeted the vehicle on the night of Wednesday 29 December to Thursday 30 December.
It is believed that they were attempting to remove the satellite receiver.
Although unsuccessful, the tractor body suffered dents and scratches as a result.
Then on the night of Thursday, December 30 to Friday, December 31, four more incidents were reported to Sarratt where a trailer, a mini excavator and power tools had been stolen.
The Three Rivers Safer Neighborhood team is now urging the rural community to be vigilant.
PC Christian Gottmann, a rural and wildlife crime officer, said: “The equipment has since been removed from the tractor as a crime prevention measure, but we would like to alert the rural community of these incidents so that they can take extra precautions to protect their property by locking items securely.
“We are investigating these incidents and calling on anyone who has witnessed suspicious activity in the Denham Way area of Maple Cross or in the village of Sarratt, during the night between the dates indicated, to come forward and speak to us. In the meantime, we will increase our patrols in these areas as a reassurance measure. ”
